Welcome to this informative page!  We have been around the country to visit doctors as well as some fun places!  A friend of mine feels a benefit of knowing what we've been through so I thought I share it on the site.  Maybe someone else can learn from our experiences and maybe the information on this page can help them make those important (and fun) decisions!

All of the following comments are MY OPINIONS.  I thought I would add that just in case I get someone upset! Not that I care, I just don't want any trouble!

Dr. Song (orthopedist)  A
Seattle Children's Medical Center
We did not have the outcome we expected and hoped for after a surgery.  But it was not necessarily his fault.  He is a great doctor with much success. He has a very tender heart and is very nice and easy to work with.  He spoke frequently with our therapists and has a wonderful "team" attitude.  I would recommend him.

Dr. Locke (orthopedist)  F
Moore Orthopedics
It is my opinion that he is a bit looney, lazy, and possibly on drugs!  In my experience with him, he sat on the table with his legs swinging back and forth, giggling, and asking for "appreciation".  He LOOKED at Hanna and said "I can't do anything".  He did not touch her, feel the strength in her legs, nothing!  Apparently he is gifted with his eyes!  He also informed me that he does not like to work with multiple doctors.  NOT a team player! I would not recommend him to anyone, I  think he's a flake.

Dr. Piehl (orthopedist) A
Midlands Orthopedics
He is a very compassionate and nice doctor and I have had good experiences with him. He seems to have the child's best interest at heart and it another
"team" player.  Be prepared to wait at the office though.  If you have an appointment don't plan anything else that day because you will be spending it at the office.  I have had appointments at 2 and gotten out after 6PM!!! But we all should know that it's worth the wait!

Dr. Devito (orthopedist) A+
Scottish Rite Hospital
Another site for him:
Children's Orthopedics of Atlanta
He is a little weird but he did have a good "bedside Manner".  He just didn't know what to do with Hanna.  I think she was a bit severe for him but I did like him. I am thankful that he did not operate because he could! It might be worth a visit to make your own conclusions.

Dr. Stanitski (orthopedist) F
MUSC
He is a complete jerk.  If you do decide you use him be prepared to be treated horribly.  We used him for a couple of years and drove to Charleston once a month for almost a year.  After the two hour trip we were talked to rudely and meanly.  This doctor is very arrogant so be prepared to sing his praises (he likes that and will respond well if done FREQUENTLY)  We stuck it out for Hanna's sake, believing it was what was best for her.  So we took it!  NOT FUN!  As far as his orthopedist skills, he gave us the impression he thought Hanna would walk so we let him operate on her. After 2 major surgeries and a spica cast, he told us he did not think she would walk.  We did not understand the purpose of he surgeries if we were not working towards that.  His opinion seemed to be more for appearance than functionality which we could not understand.

Awesome!!!!  This was so fun!  My only complaint is one that the park can not help.  It is that the ground is very uneven and hilly.  We had to help Hanna around in her chair because there was the possibility to flip.  It was not easy for the stroller either.  But it was so much fun that we will do it again!  The African safari is AWESOME!

Ripley's Believe it or Not Museum  F
I do not recommend visiting this museum.  They do not give refunds and you will want one.  I spent over $40 to get in and it was horrible.  From the outside it gives you the impression that it is like a Guinness book type place, but in reality it is looking a differently abled people like freaks!  They have a whole floor dedicated to animals that where born with unusual defects and then it goes into people born with differences.  It has a man with no legs behind glass for you to look and gawk at! Along with a woman who had extremely large lips, a man with an extremely long nose, a man with a growth coming out of his head, etc.  It was awful.  It promotes looking at people who are different as something to stare at as freaks!  AWEFUL!

Gulf World A

Very nice. It is a great family place and educational.  We enjoyed all the shows.  I will say I did not like the "people" entertainment as they came out in Speedo's.  I would recommend getting all the details from the front desk so that you can plan a wholesome trip for your family.

Ship Wreck Island A+
website
Wonderfully accommodating!!  They are right on the money here!  They did not give us too much attention or too little.  It was perfect and we felt like one of the crowd when visiting.  I had no run in's with any employee's on the rides.  I encountered an ignorant kid at the front but nothing major.  I would recommend this place a million times!  Go have fun!

This is a very fun place if all of your children are walking.  Do not bring a stroller  This is the place we learned that Hanna's chair can flip!  Yes she was in it!  I was glad she did not break something.  We plan to go back when all of the kids are good walkers and we will push Hanna in a stroller.  The ground is VERY uneven with huge hills and slopes, add apples on the ground and an unstable walker and you have disaster! We plan to go back when Ashleyrose is at least 3.
